Hi all. We have had a great time here in the West of the US. And will start our return trip from Casper, WY, tomorrow. Last night I was tremendously blessed to witness the marriage of our friend Mito to Jeff, here in Denver, CO. For those of you prayed for the church in Kashima–Mito let me know that in April, a pastor and his wife moved in and are now pastoring the group there and reaching out to Kashima. Jeff and Mito will return to Japan and will continue to serve in the missionary calling.
Sunday June 4th will be our Pentecost celebration at Cityview. It is fitting that we celebrate God’s gift of the Holy Spirit to the church that the gift of the Gospel of Jesus Christ might be enjoyed by all the nations. Acts 1 sets up the occasion; and Acts 2 gives us a window into that day. Pentecost is a historical turning point in the life of the disciples and the emerging church. The admonition “to wait for the gift” brought at least 120 disciples together in Jerusalem to pray together, remember Jesus Christ, restablish leadership in the group, and to pray together. Jesus’ post resurrection days had been filled with teaching the disciples the “kingdom of God.” The power to live in that kingdom as His witnesses would come from the Holy Spirit.
So we celebrate and consider this Sunday what it is to be “The Church In-Between.” I am looking forward to our time together. Bring food to share in our international potluck after the service.
Blessings!
