“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Yesterday I was proud of my city. I had priviledge of sharing in the funeral of man that had friends. God blessed him with a few friendships that stuck with him to the end. Dave was not a man with an easy life. No family in the city. Tormented by paranoia. Living on limited income. Yet he was blessed with faith in God, a great sense of humour, a brilliant mind, and the wisdom to seek out people, treasure his friendships, and listen to his friends. I was impressed with the health care professionsals that seemed to treat their work as a vocation. I was delighted with the friendship developed by the owner of Pickwick’s at Granville. Dave had a hard life. But he was blessed.
